Stuck at work on a Saturday. Thanks for making it funny, if only for a few seconds.

Cool. Something to laugh about when the Vikings lose to Oakland today.

Nice, and so true.

No wonder your party symbol is a jackass now is it?

When we do what? Kill terrorists? Lower taxes?

means don't justify the ends

It's not Fascism. If it was, you would have been too scared to post something like that.

You leftists are so smart...I want to be just like you.

Yeah...do what, exactly?

Ban smoking on private property?
Raise taxes to subsidize illegal aliens' lifestyles?
Ban certain ingredients from our restaurants?
Deny citizens the right to defend themselves and their families?
Deprive parents of their right to choose their kids' schools?
Restrict what kind of cars we can buy?
Regulate talk radio content?

Get a grip.

Being a liberal means never having to say you're capable of articulating a rational argument.

Two days and the American SS Internet Thought Police hasn't moved on your Photoshop?

Maybe no one has filed a complaint yet?

I mean, sure there are legitimate criticisms of Bush's policy, and I know I am quite uncomfortable with some of the loss of civil liberties, but then I reread Locke.

In extraordinary circumstances, the executive takes action that is somewhat beyond the usual scope of powers. This is not the ideal. Ideally, the paper plan would work in all circumstances. But if that were so, we wouldn't need a President. I'd like to remind you that Clinton saw fit to have a much bigger surveillance program during a time of peace. The New York Times defended it.

But hey, if standards are good, then double standards are twice as good, right?

Yep, Clinton did it as well. I didn't have a blog then but would've bitched loud and hard about it if I did.

How about this quote?

"Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither"

Benjamin Franklin.

The voices that are being marginalized now are NOT conservative voices. Why would they be when we have Bush in charge?

Being "marginalized" is not the same as "locked up and dumped in a a dark hole and forgotten." Never mind that your claim of "marginalized" is nebulous and unsubstantiated. Perhaps you should define that favorite word of the left before you use it again. We just don't understand what you're talking about because it doesn't make any rational sense.

Perhaps you should explain how many years in the federal pen that first-degree "marginalizing" should get you.

Your lack of perspective is as astounding as it is frightening.

So is yours if you think that some conservatives in this country want to "live and let live."

Anonymous said...

...care to list what liberties you've lost? (I think we've had this conversation before...)

Kevin said...

The fact that you can post something like that without fear of consequence is testament to its utter BS.

How about that quote? What quote?

And with respect to your comment at 1:12PM, perhaps you should be a little more careful with your grammar ... the way you've phrased it, you're saying that you believe that no conservative in this country wants to "live and let live." Or was that your intent?

Mark Ward said...

Yeah, kinda bad at that.

What I meant to say was that some conservatives don't give a rat's ass what anyone does and others want everyone to follow a strict, rigid line of thought that only has one solution.

Anonymous said...

You say that like some liberals don't have the exact same rigid control issues.

Anonymous said...

Exactly.

"You can't smoke in here!!"
"You can't say that on our college campus!!"
"Take that Christmas decoration down!!"
"Better yet - don't even say Christmas!!"
"I'm offended!!!!!!"

Mark Ward said...

Well, liberals do but in a different way. But let's take a look at what rld mentions

Smoking in a public place infringes on the rights of others...the right to not get cancer. However, I would support bars and clubs making up their own minds. Oh, and the whole smoking on private property thing is another example of a fake controversy made up the conservative fake outrage machine (CFOM)

College, depends on the school. If it is private, they can do whatever the fuck they want. Sorry, but that's the law. If it is public, anyone should be allowed to speak. Of course, speakers like Alberto "Human Rights Is Me" Gonzalez need to learn that if they can't take the heat....

Christmas-another fake controversy made up by the CFOM.

And the last one? Yeah, what a crock of shit. Conservatives, for all their bitching about a nation of victimhood, excel at portraying themselves as innocents under assault. In fact, that's their whole raison d'etre:

"They's a Comin'!!"

Yeah, it's just as simple as "they can't take the heat"....whatever.

Anonymous said...

Except it's not just private colleges that censor students. And it wasn't conservatives that made giving offense a legal problem.

And I find it pretty pathetic that you can dismiss the assault of conservative speakers on campus as "heat".
